Team K & K

Team K&K was formed by M2 instructors Kelly McCarthy and Kristen Maurer. Kelly & Kristen are twins who learned of their breast cancer while pregnant with each of their children. In 2012, Kelly was diagnosed. Four months later Kristen was diagnosed. Kristen & Kelly decided very quickly that they would form a team and participate in the Avon Walk for breast cancer.

They decided to support Avon because “we believe in the foundation’s values”, says Kelly. Avon helps fund research as well as helps underprivileged women get the medical treatment they deserve. Soon after their decision to form Team K&K, Kelly and Kristen’s best friends and fellow M2 instructors Brianne Lakomy, Lyndsay Schaap, Leah Shaffer, Mallory Reed and Hillary Fuentes along with Kristen’s husband Richard and Kelly’s husband Robert united to further the mission of Team K&K. Over the years, others who have danced or taught at M2DC joined them to help raise over $60,000.00 since 2012.
