Kevin Mathis
Kevin Mathis is the owner and artistic director of M2 Dance Center. Since opening its doors in 2001, M2 has been a labor of love. It has always been my mission to create an inspired learning experience for dancers of all levels while assisting them in reaching their personal best.
Mathis began coaching at Lake Central High School in 1989. Under his leadership, Lake Central has won 21 National Championships and 56 Varsity Indiana State Championships. Most recently winning NDA national titles in Pom and Hip Hop in 2024, Jazz in 2022, Pom in 2021 and 2020, and Hip Hip in 2020.
In 1994, he founded the Indiana High School Dance Team Association; currently serving as its President for 30 years. In 2000, he founded Indiana Danzforce Allstars; leading them to over 30 national titles with NDA and UDA.
From 2010-2019 he served as the head coach of Purdue University’s Dance Team where they quickly became an NDA jazz powerhouse. Mr. Mathis has served on NDA and Varsity’s Advisory Board and is a highly respected national high school and collegiate judge. He has been the Executive Board President of the National Dance Coach Association since 2017. In 2022 he was awarded the National High School Coach of the Year Award.
Mathis is married to his wife Dana and is father to Jessica and Miles. He also has 2 beautiful grandchildren Sebastian and MacKenzie.
